A great thing about living in Jomtien

Jomtien is a lovely beach town found less than two miles south of South Pattaya and is home to a number of condominium complexes and high-rises. This was not always the case. Jomtien used to be a sleepy seaside town until recently, when a number of foreigners started to prefer the quiet area to the much busier and livelier Pattaya area. As a result there has been a boom in construction in the area.

A great thing about living in Jomtien is that it has a much quieter night scene than Pattaya, with a smaller concentration of beer bars and go-go bars and a higher concentration of regular bars and pubs. It also has a plethora of restaurants to suit nearly all taste buds, from expensive steak houses to cheap Thai cuisine. Indian, Italian, French and American restaurants can all be found here, most of which are owned by expatriates.

New condominiums and housing developments are continuously sprouting in the Jomtien area, as it is fast becoming a popular place for expatriates and Bangkok residents looking for a weekend escape. Condos for sale in Jomtien are everywhere and range in size from studios to luxury penthouses. Nearly all are in condominium complexes that feature pools, fitness centres, car parks and an onsite restaurant as well as 24-hour security.

Jomtein condos can be found right along the beach as well as inland, though the beach is never too far away, nor are major amenities such as fresh food markets, restaurants, bars and shops. Beachfront condos are usually more expensive, though it is worth looking at inland condos, like for example Majestic Condominiums and Baan Suan Lalana Condominium. A beachfront 60 square metre condo will set you back more than 2.5 million baht, while the same can be had for substantially less just a few hundred metres from the beach.

Location is key when choosing a condo for sale in Pattaya. Families should opt for something near Jomtien Beach itself, while Dongtan Beach is extremely gay friendly. Still, families do enjoy spending time on Dongtan Beach, though Jomtien Beach is where the largest concentration of restaurants and shops can be found. The best restaurants in Jomtien tend to be along the trendy Thappraya Road, which runs between the two beaches.

Regardless, there are condominium complexes everywhere and buyers can purchase a brand new Jomtien condo or opt for one that has already been lived in. Buying new is not as expensive as one would think, as developers in Jomtien are promoting quite low prices for projects that are not yet underway or have just recently started being constructed.
